CE PROGRAM PARTICIPATION

Membership Outreach Program

BROKER GROUPPREMIUMOUTREACHMEETINGS
Segment 1$50M +83
Segment 2$10M - $50M2510
Segment 3$1M - $10M14222

The Membership Outreach Program began in May 2020. The goal is to establish a stronger relationship with our members, learn about their interactions with the SLA and to establish educational programs and services that are targeted to their needs. Caroline Gilbert is the membership outreach coordinator.

Leveraging the approach established by the member segmentation project, we analyzed and developed a contact list from the 2020 top brokers. Our strategy has been to identify and reach out to the individuals at each brokerage who could share their insight about the operations and communications with the SLA. While the titles vary by company, they include operations managers and officers, compliance officers and managers, surplus line supervisors and coordinators. The weekly response rate is ~20% with a total outreach to 175 brokers and 35 meetings.

A summary of who has been reached (as of 10/15/20) is below and organized into segments by premium.

Current Findings:

  • There is a level of high satisfaction with the SLA staff, process and continuing education program.
  • Top inquiries:
    • The future of in-person CE courses?
    • SLA “return to office” plans
    • SLA production goals – how has the SLA managed to meet goals during the pandemic
    • GAP exemptions
    • File uploads too large for SLIP and must be uploaded in several batches
    • Tag correction methods
    • Home office challenges
  • Our goal to be more accessible to members and their questions is working well. Broker members are reaching out directly and more frequently.

Next Steps:

  • Continue using the current approach working through segment 3 and extending to segment 4 brokers.
  • Build a list of key influencers amongst our members
  • Contacts that the SLA can reach out to with important information about educational programs, procedural changes and requirements so that they are communicated to the appropriate teams at member offices.
  • Contacts that the SLA can partner with when establishing new or reviewing existing programs.

Broker Visits

In-person visits were cut due to COVID-19. The implementation of the Membership Outreach program has had a positive impact in bridging the current gap.

Education and Compliance provided surplus line and SLIP training to twelve broker members. Just-in-time training provided to an additional fifty broker members.
